<image:title>Iris Brosch - Iris Brosch</image:title>
<image:caption>Iris Brosch is a Paris-based photographer whose work is characterized by its ethereal and poetic quality. Born in Vienna, Austria, she started her career as a fashion model before transitioning to photography in the 1990s. She specialised in fashion, nude and art photography, videos and performances. Iris has been recognized for her work with numerous awards and accolades, including the Prix de la Photographie Paris in 2014. Artnet added Iris to their list of the “seven most important contemporary photographers». In 2002, her video Pure Heaven was presented at the Differing Views exhibition in Vienna. It shows women in dreamlike scenarios which is a visual to be found in multiple videographic pieces by Iris. Since 2005, multiple videos and performances by Iris have been presented at the Venice Biennale. In 2005, she created the multimedia performance Divinta, which was inspired by TABLEAUX VIVANTS where Iris fuses different artistic disciplines such as photography, fashion, music, plastic art and dance into one performance to create a "total feminine work of art". In 2009, she presented the performance Erotic Enlightenment, followed by the video Prélude in 2010. In 2012 - 2015 Iris added to her body of work with the creation of In Paradisum, Women & Nature near Extinction, L'uomo and Vita for which David Vostell composed the soundtracks. In June 2011, Brosch was reinvited to the Venice Biennale to show her performance Requiem for Women, which is a reminiscence of the violence, persecutions and repressions inflicted on all women since time immemorial. Her fashion and portrait photos are published in Vogue Italy, Uomo Vogue, Marie Claire Germany and United Kingdom, Elle France, The New York Times, Harper's Bazaar and many other magazines.
